Solar Developer

The Solar Developer leads all aspects of managing the development process of solar PV projects up to the start of construction, from site acquisition through the receipt of authority documents including interconnection agreements and discretionary state and local permits, as well as supporting the pursuit and execution of revenue contracts. The Solar Developer works with and is supported by White Pine Renewables team members with expertise in renewable energy policy & incentives, real estate, GIS, legal, design, permitting, site preparation, finance, and construction.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

White Pine Solar Developers are assigned specific projects and channels and entrusted with the management of projects from site origination through project monetization, including: 

  • Ownership of a project development plan utilizing Smartsheet or equivalent project management software to establish itemized tasks, budgets, timelines, and schedule dependencies, from site acquisition through NTP construction
  • Site analysis and site selection, in partnership with GIS Team and real estate brokers as applicable
  • Landowner outreach and contract negotiation culminating in executed lease, license, or purchase agreements
  • Discretionary permitting including land use and zoning (typically Conditional Use Permit / Special Use Permit) via county planning and zoning authorities, as well as any state or federal permits as may be necessary
  • Tax – Negotiation of personal property tax abatements or PILOT agreements with county officials
  • Coordination of third-party engineering and environmental consultants to obtain required studies and surveys in support of real estate title and discretionary permit applications
  • Partnership with White Pine’s preferred engineering firms for the provision of preliminary layouts and production forecasts
  • Interconnection – progress projects through the interconnection study process, in partnership with the company’s engineering consultants
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of the regulatory and policy environments for assigned market(s)

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on renewable energy development experience
  • Impeccable attention to detail and a commitment to quality work product
  • Extremely organized; able to manage a myriad of competing priorities
  • High energy, responds well to pressure, works to deadlines
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as with a team
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills necessary for community building internally and trust building externally
  • Must have integrity, tenacity, and credibility complimented by a bias for action and a strong sense of personal accountability

Title: Sales and Marketing Coordinator 

Responsibilities:

  • Completes a broad variety of administrative tasks
  • Qualify leads generated by inbound & outbound marketing efforts. 
  • Support creation of sales proposals.
  • Salesforce Administrator
  • Support social media strategy by helping coordinate and publish scheduled posts.
  • Support internal marketing function by updating PPT presentations and proposals.
  • Produce minutes for all team meetings. 
  • Ensure CRM requirements for documentation are met in a timely manner.
  • Does not directly manage team members but participates in strategizing with sales team members regarding successful sales strategies and good selling principles.
  • Ensure efficient time is spent to successfully accomplish administrative responsibilities, including prospect follow up, proper/timely documentation in the CRM, etc.
  • Build and manage strong customer relationships.
  • Direct engagement efforts with new potential customers.

Requirements

Business Development Manager – C&I Distributed Generation

Location: Fresno / Central Valley, CA

The Business Development Manager – C&I Distributed Generation will support WPR’s mission by originating and securing project opportunities in the C&I sector. In this highly customer-focused position, you will develop and manage substantive long-term relationships, and gain a deep understanding of customer needs and the market as a whole. At the same time, you will oversee the internal activities required to ensure our success at the project level, and you will also collaborate with colleagues across the broader organization to manage customers strategically and provide them with maximum value.

To Be Successful in This Role the Following Qualities Are a Must.

The energy market is complex, fast-paced and constantly changing.

• Experience with DG solar and storage, EVs, and other onsite generation
• Experience selling to C&Is is highly preferred; strong existing C&I relationships are a plus

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Develops new C&I customer relationships
• Identifies new project opportunities via external and internal channels
• Oversees proposal generation process to ensure the strongest chance of success
• Maintains relationships as projects move through their life-cycle, and mines for new opportunities
• Develops and manages consultant/broker relationships
• Maintain up to date customer records (accounts, contacts, and opportunities) in Salesforce
• Assist in marketing campaigns and outbound lead generation
• Communicate effectively – how we use solar and storage to provide savings to our customers and pioneer new product offerings
• Problem Solving – look at each potential customer’s energy consumption, utility rate tariff, site, and desired outcome to generate a unique solar and storage power plant located at our customer’s facility.
• Analysis – Use simple tools and templates you create in Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe or other tools of your liking to succinctly communicate your technical findings to non-technical and technical customers
• Obtain customer’s load data and rate information using online tools and social skills including but not limited to Utility API and MS Excel
• Use online tools to evaluate utility rate structure to size and design battery energy storage systems, including Energy Tool Base or equivalent
